Masking Your Affiliate Link
One of the problems with affiliate links is that they usually are rather ugly. They have numbers and things at the end that make them impossible to remember.
If you have one of our products (or any affiliate product) that you plan on heavily promoting, I suggest you get a domain name that is easy to remember and forward it to the affiliate link. It is super simple and less than $10 a year.
Here are the steps:
- Go to www.outstandahosting.com and search for a domain name that is easy to remember and spell. If it is available, purchase it.
- You will get an email and be able to log in and manage it quickly. Once you log in, simply go to manage domains and chose the option to forward domain. Forward it to your affiliate link.
- Promote your new domain
I have done this for years with my Amazon Affiliate Link for my book, Buzzoodle Buzz Marketing. Our main website is www.buzzoodle.com but I also reserved www.buzzoodlebuzzmarketing.com and linked it to the affiliate link to Amazon. That way it is super simple for me to refer to, without needing to look up my affiliate link.
Remember, the easier you make it on yourself to remember and recommend, the more successful you will be with creating affiliate income.
I have seen some Internet Marketers recommend that you NEVER use your direct affiliate link because it cuts down on people's willingness to click and buy. I would not go that far, but I do think that if you are serious about earning affiliate income from a source that is likely to generate more that $50 a year, you should do some sort of forward or redirect.
